 Paynet Group Sponsors 2008 Regional Banking Technology Conference

Following the success of this year’s Banking Technology Conference, held in Nairobi in February, the Paynet Group, the region’s leading provider of financial electronic solutions, has confirmed its lead sponsorship of next year’s conference, to be held over 19-21 February.

This year’s sponsorship, which is the Paynet Group’s second, is to the tune of Kshs. 3, 080,000.
The conference is going to have a strong regional focus, with the theme: “Sharing knowledge and Best Practices in Banking across East Africa”. 

Announcing the sponsorship, Paynet Group Managing Director, Bernard Matthewman, reinforced the aim of developing the conference as a forum to share experience and knowledge across national borders:

“There is a great deal of learning going on in our region at the moment regarding banking technology and the adoption of products using this by the markets. This is really valuable and we believe that tremendous benefits can be accrued by sharing this sort of experience. Assuming the role of a knowledge sharing environment, the conference will enable players in the financial sector to access experience of other in order to strengthen competitiveness and productivity. Knowledge sharing and transfer stimulates innovation, by providing solutions to strategic business problems or opportunities. We were very pleased by the success of the first event this year and believe 2008 will be even better” he concluded.

The 2008 conference is expected to attract over 30 local, regional and international banking experts sharing information on leading-edge banking applications. The conference will also focus on banking and microfinance services for the un-banked majority across Africa.

Over 300 delegates are expected to participate in next year’s conference compared to the 180 in the 2007 gathering.

Due to the response from this year’s conference and its growth necessitated by ongoing consultations on issues related to banking technology, next year’s conference will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre to accommodate the high number of delegates and exhibitors.

AITEC Africa, the continent’s leading organizer of ICT exhibitions and conferences, is managing next year’s event.
